Loulé is an interesting Historical town north of Faro. It is a large town with great selection of shops, restaurants, numerous banks, art galleries, swimming pools and a sports pavilion. 

Steeped in history, the beginnings of Loulé are uncertain, some historians putting it as far back as 400BC, but others say it's origins are Roman.

Loulé is well known for its carnival in February (it takes place over 3 days, the 3rd day being Shrove Tuesday) which is a very colourful affair.

Loule is only a short drive from the famous resorts of Vilamoura, Vale Do Lobo and Quinta Do Lago which offer various sporting and beach facilities.
